In-Vehicle Unit is deployed on every vehicle in Singapore for the purpose of car traffic control. The ERP (electronic road pricing) system.

In Singapore, vehicles are fitted with an In-vehicle Unit (IU) or the newer On-Board Unit (OBU) for the ERP 2.0 system. Traditionally, many car parks use a short-range RFID antenna to read the IU when a vehicle enters or exits. This allows the system to automatically deduct parking fees from the driver’s stored-value card (e.g., CashCard, CEPAS card) inside the IU.
